Jayson Douglas, in October 2021, was promoted to Executive Director for Student Access & Success and now serves on the Executive Team for the Division of Student Affairs. He is currently responsible for the Offices of Intercultural Engagement and Leadership, Student Advocacy & Support, Student Disability Services, and Student Legal Services. Jayson has over a decade of experience in higher education and a demonstrated expertise in social justice education, student behavior management and Intervention, threat assessment, compliance specifically with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act, and strategic resource allocation.

Jayson serves as a University Designated Administrator and maintains a Level Three certification from the Association of Title IX Administrators. Additionally, he co-chairs the Critical Incident Response Team for the Division of Student Affairs. Jayson is an active member of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA), the National Association for Behavioral Intervention and Threat Assessment (NABITA), and the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD).

Jayson has worked with various community organizations, including the local food banks and agencies, supporting the education and prevention of violence against women. He is a Spring 2023 alumnus of the Commerce Leadership and currently serves on the Board of Directors for Women In Need—a local shelter for families affected by domestic violence.

What would you tell a student who is thinking about attending A&M-Commerce?

At A&M-Commerce, we will challenge you to stretch beyond your present capacities and become an active partner in your education. You will also be given opportunities to develop your leadership potential, to explore the world beyond the classroom and the campus through various opportunities. Your personal and academic growth are at the center of this institution. Should you be new to the community or a long time Lion, you will be both challenged and supported here.

What do you like most about your career?

As an educator, I get to help students charter unchartered territory within themselves to grow in ways they haven't imagined. It brings me great joy to help students accomplish their goals and dreams along the path towards graduation.
