Cool by the Pool
Stay active outside from April to October with our aquatic programs! We offer a variety of activities ranging from swim lessons to log rolling competitions. You can also enjoy the pool on your own time during our open swim hours!

Include swimming in your active routine by enjoying a zero-depth entry into a heated leisure pool with three lap lanes, a flowing river and play features.
No better way to relieve some stress than by relaxing in the two-tier spa.
Learn to Swim
**We currently have a waitlist for private swim lessons. Please email Mark Spellmire to be put on the waitlist and be notified once they open back up.**
Does your child need to learn how to swim? Do they need to brush up on their swim skills or learn different swim strokes?
We have your needs covered with our no-experience necessary, any age and any skill swim lesson program taught by certified American Red Cross Water Safety Instructors.
Good to know information before you arrive
- Swimmers must be potty trained.
- Participants should check in on the pool deck 15 minutes before the start of each session.
- All lessons are held at the MRC Pool.
- If there is inclement weather in the area or our staff deems conditions unsafe, the outdoor facilities close and lessons are canceled. Lessons do not get rescheduled and we encourage you to call ahead.
- A swimsuit is required to participate in all swim lessons. Review the swim attire guidelines before arriving.

Private Lessons (One Swimmer)
- One on one swim instruction
- Based on instructor availability, you will be assigned an instructor who will work to arrange a schedule based on their and your availability.
- Current Campus Rec Member: $145 for 6 lessons, 30-minute lessons
- Non-Campus Rec Member: $160 for 6 lessons, 30-minute lessons
- Summer 2024: June 3 – August 9, Registration May 1 – July 31
- Fall 2024: September 2 – October 11, Registration August 26 – September 23
Group Lessons
- Consist of eight, 30-minute lessons, Monday-Thursday for 2 weeks
- 5:30 – 6 p.m.
- Parent and Child (6 months – 3 years) – Familiarizing children with water. Games, songs, and activities to keep children engaged. Safety information and teaching techniques for parents.
- Preschool (4-5 years old) – Blowing bubbles, opening eyes underwater, fully submerging, floating on front and back, and creating arm and leg movement.
- Level 1: Introduction to Water Skills: Floating on the back, kicking and making arm movements on the front and back, and submerging body.
- 6:15 – 6:45 p.m.
- Level 2: Fundamentals of Aquatic Skills – Rotary breathing, float techniques, improving kicks and arm movements, and combining kick and arm movements.
- Level 3: Stroke Development – Improving treading and stroke development for freestyle, breaststroke, and backstroke.
- Current Campus Rec Member: $75 per session
- Non-Campus Rec Member: $85 per session
- Session 1: June 3 – 13, Registration May 20 – 29
- Session 2: June 17 – 27, Registration June 3 – 12
- Session 3: July 8 – 18, Registration June 24 – July 3
- Session 4: July 22 – August 1, Registration July 8 – 17
How to Utilize the Online RecPortal
This information is for anyone who has visited the MRC in the past and therefore has a profile in our membership software.
All students, faculty and staff, please see the students, faculty and staff section below.
Instructions for current/expired MRC Members without SSO authentication:
- http://recportal.a220149.com/
- Click on the link “Sign In”
- Under “OR” enter the email address that was used when you first created your MRC membership, then click “Next”
- If you don't remember your password, click “Trouble Logging In?”
- Enter your email address
- Select either Recover Username or Reset Password.
- If you do not know the email address you used, or you receive the error message below, contact the MRC Member Services at 903.468.3181 or email Mark Spellmire to let them know that you need help logging in to the Rec Portal. This error occurs because we either do not have an email address or a username has not been created. Additionally, staff at the Member Services Desk can assist with both of these problems.

- Click “Sign Up” at the bottom of the pop-up window
- Follow the prompts to create your account
- After creating and before purchasing for the first time, you must come to the MRC front desk to verify the information.
Email Mark Spellmire with any log-in issues.
All students, faculty and staff regardless if they have ever been to the MRC, will be able to log in to the Rec Portal using their University SSO login.
Currently, enrolled students will show that they have an active membership, which will allow you full access to the Rec Portal.
Faculty and staff with a current Campus Rec membership also have full access to the Rec Portal.
